Hbr 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Jam 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
As runners, we train for events or for our own personal goals. We know that when we have trained, we believe that we can physically accomplish a task. Before we begin training, we believe that we can do what we set out to accomplish, especially if we look back at previous goals that we have accomplished. Perhaps some of you, me included, remember our past events and what our bodies are capable of accomplishing. We also read about feats and victories that other runners have achieved. With all of this in mind, we believe in our potential and our bodies to be able to achieve certain tasks.
In our relationship with Jesus, we have faith. We cannot visibly see Him, but we can look back on those who have had faith, and we can look back on our own lives and see where God has been faithful. We have no reason to doubt in what Jesus can accomplish, but sometimes we do because we are mere humans, and our finite minds cannot comprehend our finite God. To tell someone to have faith does not always help him/her to receive the faith that God desires to give. Faith is wonderful when we take a step and believe in Jesus and what He has to offer us. Christian, are you living a life of faith? To you who are contemplating faith, have you asked for God’s help to give you faith?
