1Cr 10:12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!
Running in the dark and falling is not an enjoyable experience. Today, I was taking my usual morning dark run with my friend and our headlamps. My head lamp was dim, and the morning seemed particularly dark. We were chatting away about our life issues and enjoying one another’s camaraderie when I took the crash. I was not watching my step, perhaps I had become too confident in my familiarity with the trail. Over a bump and root in the path I went stumbling. I crashed to the ground and felt light headed. My thoughts went to the negative that maybe I had broken a bone. Had others been around, maybe my pride would have been hurt. Praise the Lord, no broken bones or sore joints to report. I escaped with a few bruises and a pavement burned hand.
God so often protects us from the near disasters of the world. We often hurt ourselves a little and He brings us back to the realization of His power and path. Sometimes, we must fall from our pride to be humbled. Let’s keep looking to Him and not get distracted by letting the dark creep into our lives.
